Submitted by IBIS Backwarenvertriebs GmbH from Aachen

Difficulty:
Easy

Preparation time: 20 minutes

Serving size: 4

Ingredients

  • 1 packet IBIS Sandwich Baguettes XXL
  • 200 g marzipan paste
  • 400 ml cream
  • 50 g sultanas
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 4 medium-sized, red-skinned apples
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 100 g almond slivers

Also:

  • Casserole dish (approx. 30 x 20 cm)
  • butter for greasing
  • Icing sugar for dusting
  • Vanilla sauce to serve

Instruction

Cut the Sandwich Baguettes XXL into slices approx. 1.5 cm thick.

Dice the marzipan paste and place in a high bowl with the cream. Blend both with a hand blender.

Rinse the sultanas in hot water, then add them to the marzipan cream with the egg yolks and whisk everything together.

Grease a suitable baking dish with butter. Wash the apples, cut into quarters and remove the cores. Cut the apple quarters in half again lengthwise. Mix with the cinnamon, sugar and almond slivers in a bowl.

Arrange the apple mixture and baguette slices alternately in the baking dish. Pour the marzipan cream on top. Leave everything to stand briefly so that the baguette slices can absorb the marzipan cream nicely. In the meantime, preheat the oven to 180 °C.

Bake the baked apple casserole on the middle shelf for about 30 minutes until golden brown. Remove and enjoy with a dusting of icing sugar. You can also serve with vanilla sauce if you like.
