Community commitment

IBIS Backwaren continuously supports social projects in Aachen for over 20 years now.

Aachen Solidarity Run 2022

Solidarity run for people without work
Fifty-Fifty" - under this motto, the Aachen Solidarity Run took place again on Sunday, 18 September 2022. After a two-year break from the Corona, companies, families and other donors laced up their running shoes to raise as much money as possible for a good cause and run the 700-metre-long laps around Aachen's city hall and cathedral.
No matter whether fast or slow, athletically fit or couch potato, many or few laps: It all depended on the participation and on setting a sign for solidarity, because "Solidarity is in demand all the time", which was also the motto of the run.
The "Fifty-Fifty Idea": 50 cents of every euro raised will go to a project of a non-profit organisation of the participants' choice. The other half goes to more than 25 training and qualification projects for the long-term unemployed and unemployed young people in the Aachen region.
IBIS Backwaren shows respect and responsibility towards fellow human beings and has been committed to many social projects in the city region for more than 20 years and supported the Aachen Solidarity Run again this year with hundreds of IBIS chocolate rolls, which every runner received after finishing.
Because: IBIS, the culinary-explorer, is always available for a good cause!

Cold Helpers

Winter is a cozy season for many, but for some it is the most difficult challenge of the year. For homeless people, the phase is sometimes life-threatening. Fortunately, there are the cold helpers of the Johanniter in Aachen. They take care of these people in need. They are there with a heart and an open ear for their worries or just for a conversation. The heroes are out and about at night, because at this time the homeless can hardly expect help from others. During the day, they can turn to various institutions. But at night they are mostly on their own.

This year, too, we are actively supporting the heroes of the night with our IBIS products. For us, it is a matter of the heart to support the social commitment of the cold helpers. Would you like to do something too? Then take a look at the cold helpers. They are always looking for donations in goods or money.

Lichtblicke - Helfen Sie uns zu helfen! e.V

Cohesion, community and commitment with a whole lot of heart are particularly at the forefront of the efforts of the Lichtblicke association.

"Lichtblicke-Helfen Sie uns zu helfen! e.V" is a non-profit association that volunteers its time to help children with cancer and serious illnesses and their families in Eschweiler and the surrounding area.

In doing so, the association organizes actions and activities to distract, provides quick unbureaucratic financial support, e.g. where health insurance does not cover, visits hospitals on holidays and makes children's eyes shine.

This year, IBIS once again took the opportunity to support the support association not only with a monetary donation, but also with selected IBIS products for the St. Nicholas party and Christmas.

Regionality means responsibility for us

Active help with the flood disaster in July 2021 - IBIS participates in various relief efforts among flood victims.

The flood disaster has severely affected many communities in North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate. The heavy continuous rain with flooding and high water has destroyed many houses and livelihoods. Some IBIS employees were also affected by the flood disaster themselves.

In cooperation with various aid campaigns for the flood victims, IBIS donated baked goods for and to the flood victims. Among other things, we supported the aid organization Weingut Sonnenberg with our baked goods.

Weingut Sonnenberg is a family of winegrowers who helped their community in Bad Neuenahr - Ahrweiler to rebuild at the time of the flood disaster by making donations and setting up other fundraising activities. IBIS donated, among other things, baked goods for the action "Cycling at Sonnenberg".

"Aachen Solidarity Run"

IBIS employees and friends completed a remarkable 453 laps in the 2019 race. The company donated 5 euros for each lap and shared it according to the fifty-fifty principle.

IBIS continues to motivate employees and friends to take part in the traditional "Aachener Solidaritätslauf" (Aachen solidarity run), whose donations are used to support regional unemployment projects. This helps to ensure that the Company's employees concern themselves with the precarious living conditions of others and are sensitized to them.

Especially the long-term unemployed and young people without job prospects are to be trained, qualified and advised in many church projects by the donations of the run.

IBIS employees and friends completed the impressive total of 453 laps in the 2019 run. For each round, 5 euros were donated by the company and divided according to the fifty-fifty principle.

"Maria im Tann"

Supporting the "Maria im Tann" Centre for children, youngsters and families in Aachen are at the forefront of our efforts. The children and youngsters in residential childcare there, because of their individual backgrounds, have far poorer prospects for a start in life than children who enjoy the security and encouragement of their families. In this context, we also maintain a close dialogue with the educators and teachers as well as with the management of the centre.

We support the work of the centre in order to give the children and young people the opportunity to be accepted by society in their individuality and to participate in it to the fullest extent, to become involved and later also to become a recognized member of our society in their working lives.

Our commitment is not restricted only to financial support of this institution, but rather to our active involvement.

Other initiatives that we are happy to support

IBIS Backwaren supports the Aachen football club FC Inde Hahn as a sponsor. The club carries out many projects that go beyond the normal scope of training and matches and shows social commitment.

Of course, we are committed to the work of the food bank from the Aachen region, which provides food and warm meals to needy people who, for example, receive unemployment benefit I or II, social welfare or even a small pension. Almost a third of these are children and young adults who are looking for a perspective. For this purpose, the food bank receives regular deliveries of goods from our assortment.

"Lichtblicke Aachen" is a support association for children and adolescents suffering from cancer and other serious illnesses. It was founded by parents and families to organize activities for the ill children in order to donate a few "rays of hope" in everday hospital life. Without state support, this association is dependent on the commitment of private individuals and companies. IBIS therefore supports "Lichtblicke Aachen" with donations especially during the Christmas season.

"breakfast4kids" was founded in 2008 and currently serves over 600 primary school children daily. The project is financed by donations from companies, but also from private individuals. According to the latest UN report, every 4th child in Germany has to go to school without breakfast. We therefore also support "breakfast4kids" with donations.
