IBIS runners showed unity and completed 461 laps for a good cause
At this year’s “10th Aachener Solidaritätslauf” on 18 September, 38 IBIS employees, executives and friends and family ran the approximately one-kilometre-long lap around Rathaus and Dom – as many times as they could.
But no matter whether fast or slow, lots of laps or only a few: it’s all about participation and sending a message. And the Aachen Solidarity race, with its almost 800 runners, certainly delivered.
The idea: For every Euro donation that is collected, 50 cents goes towards a project of a non-profit organisation. The other half flows into more than 25 training and qualification projects for those who have been unemployed for a long time and young people in the Aachen region.
IBIS Backwaren has been supporting the “Maria im Tann” Centre for Children, Youth and Family in Aachen for many years, and the IBIS runners turned out an impressive 461 total laps for the social organisation this year.
For each lap, 5 Euros were donated by the company and divided according to the described fifty-fifty principle.
The youngest IBIS team participant was 4-year-old Phoebe Schwager with a remarkable nine laps; the oldest participant with a proud 18 laps was Bernd-Rüdiger Busch (75).
As reinforcement, all participants of the solidarity race were given hot soup and delicious IBIS chocolate rolls.
