On 25th October 2010, IBIS GmbH, based in Würselen near Aachen, was once again awarded the “North Rhine Westphalia State Prize for Food”, on behalf of the Minister for Agriculture and Consumer Protection, Johannes
Remmel. IBIS had already become, in 2009, one of the first companies to
receive the newly-established prize, organised by North Rhine Westphalia’s Federal State government and the Ernährung.NRW Cluster Management.

At the celebration organised by the Ernährung.NRW Cluster Management, at the Westfalen Culinarium in Nieheim, the food producer’s diversity and heterogeneity, along with its skill and dedication to quality, were clear to see, all of which have contributed to its outstanding reputation in North Rhine Westphalia.
The prize winners vary not only in origins, but also in size: from small workshops to large producers, they are all able to offer the high quality goods the prize is awarded for, thanks to their careful selection of raw materials and optimal preparation and manufacturing techniques.
At the award ceremony, the head of the Ernährung.NRW Cluster Management, Dr Otto Strecker, emphasised the meaning of the “North Rhine Westphalia State Prize for Food” for the food producer as well as the consumer. “This distinction strengthens consumer trust in the high quality of food from North Rhine Westphalia, and thus at the same time strengthens the market position of these companies both domestically and abroad,” he stressed.
Dr. Ludger Wilstacke from the Ministry explained in his speech: “Thanks to the presentation of the State Prize, the companies gain important capital, which they should cultivate and present to the outside world, along with the enjoyment of their products and the food culture.”
IBIS was therefore honoured for the outstanding quality and excellent taste of its baked specialities, which it has proved once again thanks to brilliant results from the Department of Agriculture quality tests and the resulting presentation of a gold medal.
The criteria for these tests include a careful choice of raw materials, optimal processing and preparation as well as the delicious taste of the tested products.
IBIS Marketing Manager Astrid Schlenzka expressed her happiness after the presentation of the prize: “In the last few years, IBIS has received more than 80 awards from the Department of Agriculture for the special quality of its international fine baked goods, and now already for the second time the State Prize. We are naturally very proud of such a distinction, which documents the dedication to and the high standard we set for the development and production of our products”.
